~ Character Info ~

Name: Roy Mustang [Cyril “Cyr” Adler]
Age: 32
Gender: Male

Appearance:

Even without having massive muscles, Roy has strung strength into his body, leaving it lithe and to some thin enough to be almost unhealthy. Being as agile and fast as he is, Roy uses it as part of his advantage when he needs to though most of the time he could be considered a sleeping jaguar. Despite losing his left eye, Roy has attained a glass eye to make it seem that he has only a vertical scar from his temple to the top of his upper lip. This scar is usually hidden by his bangs. His hair in general is at the stage where it is almost fully 50/50 salt and peppered, though he swears that his greys are more in abundance. He wears a pair of thin frame false glasses.

Roy’s outfits usually pertain to suits, dress shirts, slacks and jeans. He hardly ever wears a normal T-shirt, preferring to look at least somewhat formal for any occasion. Instead of his usual black beloved trenchcoat (Though he still has this in a hidden place, along with a pair of pyrotex gloves and State Alchemist watch), Roy opts to wear the standard Doctor’s coat and is almost without a pair of white pristine gloves on his hands (he could never get rid of the habit of wearing gloves despite his want of separation from Roy Mustang). He also carries with him a normal silver pocket watch though it is not his State Alchemist one (the reason being the same as the gloves).

A new edition to his persona is a constant pack of cigarettes that he lights when he feels intensely stressed, a habit he picked up after leaving Amestris.

One thing to note is that Roy is starting to look sickly thin, mostly due to the fact he hardly eats (mostly because he either forgets or delays it until later--never, usually). There are no protruding ribs yet but he's getting there. His face is usually either with a grin of some sort, usually a smirk or an almost smile but despite that, it is always very weary.

Personality:

His voice has a certain flare to it and it matches his personality. It can shift to sarcastic, bored, intrigued, protective, angry and flirty on a moment's notice though it tends to sound mostly drawled out and bored but it is always polite. He loves being amused by something and could almost be seen doing something with his hands, either rubbing his fingers together or scratching the scar on his face. His drinking problem is still one of his most evil of vices though somehow he managed to find himself becoming a chain smoker (he claims it's against his will).

He has a Parental complex of sorts meaning that he mostly sees anyone younger than him as a child and nothing more, even those who might want him as a lover. He's a little "bit" more bias to women due to his military career and his upbringing but he does admit to having some homosexual urges which he would deny repeatedly, usually ending up drinking until he is passed out. Some may say he's short-sighted but everything he does is for the good of something else, sometimes leading off to a Martyr tendency.

Roy is not without his emo moments which in the worst of times, can and most probably will lead to suicidal tendencies (he usually stops himself though... usually). A procrastinator beyond belief, Roy tends to leave things undone for quite sometime unless he deems it necessary to do immediately (he might rush it), if only because he wants to have everything planned and accounted for especially in situations with more than one outcome. He's a real strategist and looks over every single detail he can without being too obsessive compulsive (OCD), or so he would like to think (He really is OCD, though it is a rather small case). He is always looking for a good something to interest him for some time, be it a new game, lover or event. Let it be known a Mustang bored is a Mustang feared.

Roy has a control complex in which he feels the need to be at an advantage for anything and everything. Losing that edge may at times become a high to him and at other times feel too overwhelming. His pride is not without justification but it can seem unbearably arrogant at times. His personality is almost more like water in nature but that may because his true love is in swimming rather than in his alchemy. He hates and loves the brand of alchemy he used but feels more at home in the cold, tranquil of water. He loves to swim when he feels trapped by a certain events or emotionally exhausted, even going though a dangerous attempt of mediating underwater without any breathing apparatus. It is that daredevil trait that causes him to be able to be unpredictable in his actions.

As stated before, he is often referred to by some as a sleepy jaguar for his attitude toward things and the like. He may appear to be disinterested but that doesn't mean he truly isn't. His actions are just as volatile's as a jaguar and may seem to be impulsive to some but that doesn't mean it was completely unplanned for.

Roy is usually never without a plan of his own in anything. Including relationships.

Secretly... he has a knack for writing fictional items, be it poetry or short stories.

A warning to the wise, do not call him old.

One more thing to note: Roy does not chase people they chase him.

Besides all that, Roy is always tense, thinking that each minute of freedom he has is his last. Though this is understandable given his high "Wanted Dead or Alive" status, he tries to downplay the paranoia he sometimes feels. His constant migraines usually leave him in an ill mood though he would try not to let that affect him while he is out and about. In the office, he becomes much more caring, polite and attentive, even parental at times. He is always more human to his patients, especially children, than he is at any other time, opting for an ice cold persona as not to get himself too attached to others.

Nowadays, he tends to stray away from relationships for the fear of having them to leave them if he finds himself being pursued; wanting to leave them so he could give them some protection. Everything he does is for the better of someone else, even if it doesn’t seem that way.

Roy always wants to prove that he isn’t useless, helpless or any thing his mother told him repeatedly during his childhood. Because of this, Roy will put everything he could into something if need be. Being called useless is one of the best ways to rile him up besides stating that he’s old.

Preference (Heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual): Bisexual, leaning toward Heterosexual
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist

History:

Roy Mustang is borne out of wedlock between a tense union of a Xing Pharmacist and a Amestris State Alchemist. His parents had married, unwontedly, sometime before his birth. To his father, Roy was everything he could ask for. To his mother, Roy was everything she didn’t ask for. For his early years, Roy’s father who was not a citizen of Xing where Roy was born, left repeatedly for lengthy amounts of time back to Amestris, promising one day to bring Roy with him despite Roy’s mother’s avid protests. Roy’s mother hated her son for causing her life to become, in her opinion, a hell hole. Everyday when Roy’s father is away, she would continuously beat and abuse her son, stating that he is useless, unwanted, unneeded, a mere spec of her shoes, a bastard.

His relationship with his mother was never a loving one, in fact just the opposite despite Roy’s wanting for someone to love and take care of him, just like his father. (One thing is to be noted, despite the hatred from Roy’s mother, she did teach him some of her Pharmacy to him, stating that no child—she spat—of hers would never know the joys of her art. Roy never learned more than just the basics) In contrast to this relationship with his mother, Roy worshiped his father, who was a loving and much better parent than his mother. Soon enough, Roy managed to leave with his father at the age of nine though not without the abuse he had suffered at his mother’s hands still vividly remembered in his soul. The two never again had contacted each other.

Two years later, Roy had met an alchemist friend of his father’s who was a master of the Flame Alchemy Arts and had became enticed by the art so much, he soon became the man’s student. Roy’s father died soon after he had saw Roy conduct his first Flame transmutation.

Engraved into his head that he will become the best there is, Roy continued his education under his teacher. Upon learning everything there is to know, he left his teacher against the latter’s will to enlist in the military, to be just like his father. He wanted to prove to his mother that he wasn’t useless, that he had a purpose in life besides making her life miserable. (This is probably just a confidence issue for himself since his mother and he never contacted one another on anything.)

Enlisted in the medical division due to his liking of helping others, Roy reveled in the fact that this might just be his calling; all the while keep up his studies for the State Alchemist Exam, wanting a title for his proof that he is a “master” of the Flame Art. He received his certificate at the age of 17, not even a full six months after he first enlisted. He never thought that he would ever use anything but his medical training in the military.

He thought wrong.

Then came Ishbal and he became one of the “Death Spears of Amestris.” He had done so many things during this time of his life; he tried to kill himself not once but four times, only to shy away from pulling the trigger.

After the war with the help of his best friend, Maes Hughes, Roy found a new purpose in life. To be Fuhrer and change his adoptive country for the better.

[Insert your canon Fullmetal Alchemist History here. Up until episode 50/51.]

Losing an eye during his assassination of the homunculi Pride, Roy soon finds himself in Amestris Military custody upon which he is stripped of his title and rank and placed into confinement to await court-martial. However, just before his sentence could be announced, Roy disappears only hours before the final hearing. Since this court-martial had been made public, gossip arises from the spectators and newspapers. Everyone knows of his escape and knows who he is, what they do not know is that Roy is helped by his subordinates to regain his freedom though in exchange, he must become a fugitive. His last orders to his men are that they should stay in the military and keep their eyes and ears open for anything. Roy plans to cause disorder among the people of Amestris and in the Amestris’s bordering allies (Creta and Xing).

To do this, Roy takes on the new persona of Cryil “Cyr” Adler before enlisting into a private medical university to gain a degree for his next career, that of a doctor. He only needs two or three years before he could become a certified physician which he completes in less than a year. He soon takes to the road, spreading rumours of the government’s corruption, trying to give light to the truth to the naïve citizens of Amestris and her allies.

During all this, he keeps in contact with his “moles” in the military, mostly with Riza Hawkeye, waiting for the right time for him to try and vie for a political position in the newly instated Parliament of Amestris, knowing the shift of power will soon be out of the Military’s hands, if and only if Parliament becomes stronger.

Roy travels continuously, making sure never to stay long in the same place and not to get attached to anyone, wanting no strings to hold him back in case those in the military finally catch up with him. He knows he is what some may think a S-Class criminal with a large bounty on his head. All he wants to do now is to help the country heal, if it’s one person at a time, then so be it. He also swears of any and all alchemy, claiming he will only use them again when he finally is able to change his country for the better. Hiding his State Alchemist pocket watch and Pyrotex gloves, Roy forces himself to become a new person, knowing he may never be able to once again use the name Roy Mustang.

DAY XVII

My underwear has gone missing. My room is rampaged. Paint everywhere. I feel as if I want to murder someone--not that I will, however. My OCD, which I do not have, is acting up very much...

DAY XV

Work... could be better... Very better... I feel... empty... useless... I don't know... maybe I'm just questioning myself again. I'm taking the next few days off to recuperate after what had happened during my last two night shifts. Probably do need the time off anyway, considering what little sleep I have and how I almost feel as if I am about to collapse into a coma. Not good... not good at all.

Besides... the hospital was working fine without me before... It should be fine without me for a little longer. Maybe I'm just... burning out so to speak...

DAY V

Well... I got the apartment. I suppose the built-in book shelves in the room that's going to be the study did it. Hook, line and sinker, I suppose. Heh. I suppose I should just post an ad for a flatmate now. I'll let them do what they want with the extra room. There's already a working kitchen, all the appliances work efficiently and that's good since when I am able to, I'll most likely cook all my meals though I'm probably just better off not using it since the Hospital has it's own break kitchen.

After posting the ad, I'll probably just head off to my hotel and just either do one of the following, sleep or go looking for furniture brochures. The down payment's already done and the place is stripped rather bare... Probably would be good to find furniture now and then move in.

I can't help but wonder about that Prophet, however. There hasn't been rain as of yet and there doesn't seem to be an eclipse happening anytime soon... Makes me wonder if there will be but that might just be my skepticism. Either way, I'm not planning on staying outside for long. Can't really. Considering there's going to be a "lecture" surgery tonight with open observance. Hopefully, I could learn a few things from it.

NIGHT IV

This is nice... I found an ad for an apartment in the Middle Class section. It bit too much room for me but considering the price and the measurements...? It's well worth a bargin. But who exactly needs a four-bedroom apartment anyway? I'm content with two or three (If I decide to get a roommate) bedrooms. But the location of the apartment... The complex has its own olympic pool and diving pool, not to mention the other ads for this complex seem to be rather... horrid. Just Studios, really, but I must say if I wasn't planning on converting a room into a study I might be interested.

I'll go check it out tomorrow/later when I'm off shift. I should have enough for a down-payment. It seems to have a lot of comfort amentities that I would possibly like. I suppose if I do get this, I might as well go looking for a flatmate and convert the extra bedroom into something or other... -sighs- Makes me wish I stayed as a scientist... Might have been perfect for a lab or something.

Though I am very content with my current occupation at the moment. Don't think I'll change it anytime soon. It's quite... interesting. Plus I invested too much time into it already. Might as well see this to the end, hm?

DAY IV

So far my new career seems to do well. Nothing serious had happened, thankfully. I'm still letting my body adjust to Graveyard Shift. I probably should just sleep through the day rather than don't sleep at all... I should eat more too... I think I'm just about to see my ribs now. Not good. Definitely not good.

Everything seems to be fine, if not decent. I'm looking at apartments right now. Decently priced with nice amenities. I receive my first paycheck at the end of this week and so I might as well find my new home soon. I'm not entirely sure if I want to live alone but I suppose I could take on a roommate if possible.

So long as they do not disturb me if I am home which should be very rare considering my Night Shift job and On-Call status. I also seem to enjoy being outside more than I normally would. Must because I have been travelling so much in the last few years. Haven't exactly been able to settle down for more than necessary...

By the look of things, I suppose I might as well think I might not be able to leave for much more longer span of time than I would like. Oh well.

DAY III

Just something I found at this site: Colour Quiz. Almost very accurate for such a rather simple way of testing.

Your Existing Situation
Acts in an orderly, methodical, and self-contained manner. Needs the sympathetic understanding of someone who will give him recognition and approval.

Your Stress Sources
The existing situation is disagreeable. Feels lonely and uncertain as he has an unsatisfied need to ally himself with others whose standards are as high as his own, and wants to stand out from the rank and file. This sense of isolation magnifies the need into a compelling urge, all the more upsetting to his self-sufficiency because of the restraint he normally imposes on himself. Since he wants to demonstrate the unique quality of his own character, he tries to suppress this need for others and affects an attitude of unconcerned self-reliance to conceal his fear of inadequacy, treating those who criticize his behavior with contempt. However, beneath this assumption of indifference he really longs for the approval and esteem of others.

Your Restrained Characteristics
Trying to calm down and unwind after a period of over-agitation which has left him listless and devoid of energy. In need of peace and quiet; becomes irritable if this is denied him.

Willing to become emotionally involved as he feels rater isolated and alone. Egocentric and therefore quick to take offense, though he tries to avoid open conflict.

Your Desired Objective
Considers the existing circumstances disagreeable and over-demanding. Refuses to allow anything to influence his point of view.

Your Actual Problem
The need for esteem--for the chance to play some outstanding part and make a name for himself--has become imperative. He reacts by insisting on being the center of attention, and refuses to play an impersonal or minor role.

Your Actual Problem #2
Disappointment and the fear that there is no point in formulating fresh goals have led to anxiety, emptiness, and an unadmitted self-contempt. His refusal to admit this leads to his adopting a headstrong and defiant attitude.

Time to go to my new workplace. Hopefully everything will go without a hitch today. Might check out a few ads during my break later. I wonder if I will be able to just keep night shifts. I always find those during my internship very interesting.

DAY II

Well this is nice. My job application for a doctor's position has been accepted. That's good. I don't have to stay in this dingy motel room anymore. Though I probably would stay here for a bit longer, just so I may be able to find a decent apartment in the middle class section. I'm not exactly fond of the "rich" section so much. Maybe it's just me being prejudice but I do not think it would matter that much.

I'll probably go searching for an apartment soon after my first paycheck. If I stretch my money right now, I should be able to last at least a week here. Thankfully it's very cheap.

My first shift, they said, is this evening. Fair enough. Hopefully, it will only be training and nothing more. I really can't imagine if there is anything troublesome here so far but then again I am here with no knowledge of why I am here. I don't know, I suppose I'll just take things in stride for now. Take them as they come though I did hear something interesting in the Open-air Market...

A flood? Despite my skeptism, I suppose I should keep an eye out. I have the feeling that anything could happen here.

NIGHT I

Interesting notion, not entirely sure what I think of it. May be accurate but who knows. I'm just passing the time really. Haven't exactly found a place to sleep in but I suppose that's fine as well. Not entirely sure if I want to take the charity the Church Housing is offering and I do not exactly want to spend anything to find a temporary room though when push comes to shove...

I may have no choice? It probably is a good idea to just sleep indoors tonight.

A quiz result on what spirit I have. )

Hmm... I wonder what else I could do to pass the time before I go looking for a room to stay.

DAY I

To any who stumble onto this journal:

My name is Cyril Adler. Please call me Adler. I only allow my patients to call me Cyril and those who I grown... attached to are allowed to call me Cyr. I have just came to this new city and hopefully I will find a new job at the Hospital as soon as possible. I do not think now would be a good time create my own clinic.

There doesn't seem to be any job applications for doctors just yet and I have to wonder if there will be. What would be my next option then? I suppose I could try for a librarian position though I rather work in the medical field, personally.

I must say that I hope my stay here will be very intriguing and continue to be fruitful. To any who I may meet in the future. Good day to you and hopefully you won't be on my surgery table, hm?

Hopefully, I will find a job soon. I highly doubt I could maintain a comfortable lifestyle with the money given to me. At least this laptop is a very nice black and sapphire trim design. Very nice. It is nice to know that I just didn't wake up alone in darkness and the place I am currently staying, this Cathedral is very quaint and intriguing. Not exactly what I had been thinking of waking up in upon regaining consciousness. The décor is surely one of the best I have seen in a long while during all my travels.

Enough chit-chat, I should be heading out to find myself a room and board with what money that is given to me until I can get a decent paying job and possibly my own home to live in.
